Archaeology

I am interested in the role of ancient copper metallurgy in the socioeconomic, sociocultural, and sociopolitical interactions between the Bronze Age peoples of southeastern Arabia—specifically those from Oman—and those from Mesopotamia, the Indus Valley, and Iran. I intend to utilize both excavation and experimental archaeological methods to investigate any and/or all of the numerous stages of copper metallurgy from mining, ore processing, and smelting, to tool/artifact production. Additionally, I am interested in the archaeological applications of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as well as remote sensing technologies, especially the use of small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS), more commonly referred to as drones.
