Cultural Anthropology
Arista is a first year, cultural and medical anthropology student who aims to use qualitative, ethnographic, and participatory approaches in order to study experiences and issues at the intersection of mental and reproductive health. In particular, she is interested in exploring the sociocultural and structural factors that shape perinatal mental health experiences among pregnant and birthing people in immigrant communities, with a focus on South Asian communities in the United States.
Arista holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, and International Affairs and a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree. She has contributed to several qualitative and mixed methods research projects on a range of public health topics in the capacity of Research Assistant or Research Coordinator.
