BIOLOGICAL

Amanda Rae is a first-year PhD student with an interdisciplinary background in behavioral neuroscience, anthropology, and women’s studies. She graduated with a B.S. in Psychology from Clemson University in 2013 and a M.A. in Anthropology from UNC – Charlotte in 2016. For her master’s thesis, she investigated the impacts of captivity on the social relationships of a group of hamadryas baboons (Papio hamadryas) housed at the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro, NC with specific focus on allomaternal care. She is generally interested in reproductive physiology, endocrinology, life history, and behavioral flexibility
