
Cultural Anthropology
Caitlin Benedetto is a PhD Candidate in cultural anthropology. Her dissertation research focuses on progressive activist spaces in Madison, WI, to explore how whiteness is challenged, reproduced and/or negotiated and how activists navigate current structures of power to transform and remake the future. Caitlin has previously conducted ethnographic research on feminist activism in Yangon, Myanmar, and on caste and ethnic identity in Tanahun District, Nepal. She has taught in the Anthropology and Communication Arts departments, and she continues to develop feminist approaches to her ethnography and teaching. Caitlin received her M.A. in Anthropology from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2017 and her B.A. in Anthropology and Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Cornell University in 2012.
